Mobile Data Communications
Well, I thought I'd better get in another blog before the end of the year!
It won't surprise a number of clients that I've been too busy to pay much attention to this blog - and before you say it, I know good blogging means regular entries! Must try harder. :)
So, to Mobile Data Communications, SMS, txting. I've been very busy managing the organisation of SMS competitions, for a company, Initiative Solutions Limited, whose Chief Technical Officer I've known for almost 10 years. In fact, after being involved in a number of projects earlier in the year they've decided they'd like me to concentrate on this side of their business.
I must admit it's fun! And because so many types of business can use competitions for customer building and relationship exercises there seems to be no shortage of interested clients! This has led to marketing and design companies, including other Web design companies, approaching me to discuss the services ISL can offer in terms of handling all the technical aspects of putting a SMS competition together and running it on behalf of their clients.
What like about it is the innovative approach ISL have to keeping costs down to allow easy entry into these type of marketing and relationship building exercises. But may be "exercises" is a word that gives the wrong impression, because the ongoing cost benefits of such activities usually means our clients continue to use the technology in other ways to maintain an easy and efficient means of keeping in touch with and growing their customer base.
Companies now such as nightclubs, hairdressers and takeaway restaurants are using txting to inform opted-in customers of special offers and appropriate news items in a way that is quick, easy and cost-effective. And customers seem to be loving it!
It really has turned out to be a brilliant year and I'm going into 2006 with my own competition running on a special interest site of mine about supermarket wines - so if you fancy brightening up your New Year get along to www.supermarketwines.co.uk and enter the competition for a chance to win a case of wine.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Cheers
Richard
